Did you know that?
The name tomato comes from the Italian pomo d'oro – ‘golden apple’. A dispute about the belonging of tomato to fruits, vegetables or berries is a problem of an international scale. By far botanists undoubtedly consider tomatoes as berries, the United States Supreme court recognized them as vegetables (based on the fact that tomatoes are served at lunch, but not as a dessert), and the European Union have decided that it is a fruit.

Dried tomatoes are a storehouse of nutrients, minerals (potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, manganese) and vitamins of groups B, C, and K. As a fact in a dried form, the concentration of elements is 10 times higher than in a fresh tomato!

Our tomatoes can be widely used for cooking. They are often used in the preparation of Mediterranean cuisine. Tomatoes can be a supplement for fish, meat and vegetable dishes, salads, sauces, gravies, and even used as a filling for cakes.
